SP AusNet delivered a Victorian Government initiative to connect 12 regional towns in western Victoria to natural gas. In the process, some 16,000 properties in the Macedon Ranges, Camperdown region and on the outskirts of Bendigo, were connected to clean, reliable natural gas.

For some homes and businesses, this has brought savings of up to $1,200 per annum as they’ve made the switch from bottled gas and cut fire wood.

Connections to new towns

While the project to roll out of natural gas to those 12 regional towns is now complete, our system is continually expanding. Opportunities exist for towns that neighbour reticulated areas to lobby for their own natural gas supply.

Property owners should contact a gas retailer and express their interest in having a natural gas connection. It is helpful if neighbours can band together in their approach to the retailer. This shows the demand for natural gas in your area and helps us evaluate your request based on its economic viability.
